How I Coach Students (High School & College) with ADD/ADHD in Seattle and via Phone

Coaching High School and College Students with ADD ADHD

I work with teens and college students who are struggling in school (or in life) because of the symptoms of attention deficit disorder. My coaching has two purposes. The first is to teach young people about attention issues and executive functioning so they can understand themselves better. And the second is to help them learn strategies, skills, and new habits so they are able to reach their goals and experience success.

I help students:

  • Understand ADD/ADHD and how it impacts them

  • Let go of self-blame

  • Plan and set daily, weekly, and longer term goals

  • Learn to advocate for themselves

  • Develop planning and time management skills

  • Learn effective study methods

  • Prioritize, begin, and complete assignments

  • Understand and lessen procrastination

  • Reach for doing their best and getting things done – not being perfect

  • Develop strategies to maintain attention/focus

  • Create the best study environment

  • If applicable, develop systems to manage medications

  • Become aware of self-defeating behaviors

  • Learn stress reduction techniques

  • Acknowledge their successes

Methods and Details

Where:
ADD/ADHD coaching is provided in-person (N.E. Seattle in the Wedgwood neighborhood) or over the phone. I prefer to coach high school students in-person. I coach college students in-person or all over the country by phone.

Time Commitment:
Because self-understanding, developing new habits, and change take time, I ask that students commit to coaching for at least one month - although most of my clients have been with me longer. A month is four weeks in a row regardless of when it starts. After each month, we evaluate and decide whether to continue for another month. I have coached quite a few students for the whole school year.

Hours:
ADD/ADHD student coaching is flexible. I save one hour a week for each client, but have found that some people get fidgety and ready to close after 20 minutes and others want to use the whole hour and more! For follow-up and check-ins, we can email or text in between sessions.

Fee:
See my Fees and Payments page.
